Travel problems

Because I'm going to be out in Texas for a few months I figured it would be best to drive since in that case I'd have my own car with me. The trip so far has been interesting in both good and bad ways. Arizona and New Mexico have been interesting to drive through. The views can be astounding at times.

Finding a good place to rest on the way turned bad though when the Travelodge in Holbrook I unwittingly decided to stay at turned out to be one of the most expensive at $65 yet one of the shabbiest in that town. It's bed was as hard as a drum and after unsuccessfully trying to cope with it for a hour I tried to see if there was any way to make it more comfortable. After failing that and trying to see if the floor with it's padded carpeting was more comfortable I discovered there was trash under the bed. I then confronted the manager with those problems and asked if there were any rooms with more comfortable beds he responded I could get a refund but he would have me marked as a “person of issue” (sounded like s sort of blacklist blacklist) on some Wyndham hotel group internal network. I really couldn't argue at the time. Maybe I was at fault partially as well three hours had passed since my check in at noon where I had tried to make it work in fear of loosing my money due to some cancellation policy loophole of theirs and I probably should have inspected things thoroughly and rejected imediately at check in. either way though I shouldn't be getting a bill from them...

While upset by this yet still exhausted I reacted by getting back on the highway and traveling into New Mexico. By reaching Gallup NM though I knew I was going to have to do something. So on the advice from my mother I went to the Best Western, Red Rock inn. After doing a quick check of the bed both on and under it I decided to stay for the cost of $78 for the night. The room truly is clean and the bed is much more comfortable. It isn't perfect though.. it's a little old and worn and has the same problem allot of the other hotels have along I40 in that it's located adjacent to the busy BNSF mainline. every 10minutes two freight trains seem to pass noisily by. And due to unrest brought on by my earlier problems on the trip I still can't seem to fall asleep for long.

Well that's enough for now.. I'm going to attempt again to sleep...
