Troubling news about my cellphone's future.

I recently came across this article: Samsung Behold II not getting 2.x.

The article says not only is Samsung saying there will be no Android 2.x update for the Behold II, which I own, but that also they've been actively removing the videos from the internet that seemed to advertise that they would offer a 2.x update.

If true, it's quite disappointing, really I thought Samsung was one of the better consumer electronics companies out there. I purchased this phone just TWO months ago thinking it was the best option at the time, and now it seems it's been pretty much made obsolete.

Sure the first unit's screen failed, slowly corrupting row by row, but I just figured that was due to it being an OLED with a higher failure rate. with the replacement I've had pretty good luck it's been reliable and hasn't had any of the severe bugs others have mentioned.

it would have been nice to have an update so I could use the latest Google maps with turn by turn directions.. I really think it would be a big surprise if it did get any update though. With this news, and the directly observable fact that my phone still hasn't gotten even the bug fix from February, I really doubt it'll even get 1.6.

Way to go Samsung you effectively made me do an about face opinion about you and I will now no longer recommend your products to friends. I'll also have to seriously consider buying any of your products in the future.

As for T-mobile.. this disappointment added with some other service issues is really making me think I'll switch providers once my contract is up...
