Windshield chip repair..

So yesterday afternoon I stopped at a gas station to refuel my car and a guy stepped up offering to watch my windshield as "customer appreciation Promotion" I said sure and proceeded to start to fill my car. soon he made the comment "gee what happened to your windshield?" I thought, does he mean the pollen the nearby tree dumps on it? No he was refering to the chips in it. There were about 4 noticeable scuffs, one big one that had been there for ages and 3 smaller ones one of which had occurred not too long ago.
Turns out he was working for Chipio auto glass, one of those "no cost to you" windshield chip repair companies. He said my insurance would likely cover the repairs if I wanted him to repair them would only take 5 minutes. I unfortunately worded my response "sounds pretty good" which he took as an authorization to immediately start drilling small holes in my cars windshield. I mentally started to freak out, his cellphone was dying so he asked if I could use my cellphone to call my insurer to make a claim. I didn't want holes in my windshield so I made the call and talked to my insurer. They fortunately did authorize the repairs and he proceeded to continue filling the holes he had made with resin. handed me paperwork then which I signed (second mistake) then I was on my way...
The repairs themselves really are awful, without cleaning the areas properly before using the resin it sealed in the dirt making it look like the windshield has spots of dirt, but that dirt can't be cleaned. So what were small scuffs now are much more noticeable. I don't know if this can be fixed or if I'Il now have to spend money I don't have to get the whole windshield replaced... I Don't know what to do now.. I'm thinking I should call my insurer again, but I don't know if they'll penalize me for allowing this or not.. It's really giving me some unrest.
Lesson learned though, never let anyone touch my car again unless they're really close friends or they first give me a work order to sign.
